Phoebe Ba is a hospitality and digital marketing consultant, and the content creator behind The Traveling Qipao.
Born in Dalian, China, she spent over a decade abroad before a 2019 trip to her home country turned into a permanent relocation when the pandemic closed off its borders. Previously an avid world traveler, Phoebe refocused her camera lens on the vast and varied landscapes within China itself.
It was during this time that she rediscovered her love of China’s glowing cities, tranquil villages, and rich history. Now she is passionate about sharing her homeland’s hidden charms by curating unforgettable experiences for visitors. Through her Instagram account @thetravelingqipao, she offers glimpses into everyday life in China and invites a global community to virtually join her many travels off the beaten path. Offline, she has designed experiences for overseas travelers in collaboration with Shan China Tours.
Phoebe has partnered with numerous hospitality groups — including Four Seasons, The Ritz-Carlton, Mandarin Oriental, and The Peninsula Hotels — in addition to brands like Chanel, Meta, Google, Trip.com and many others.
To bring her vision of a modern qipao to life, she worked with Hong Kong fashion label Yi-ming on a collaborative 2022-23 qipao collection, The Bund of Love.
